D. Theol. Orientation and Methodology Seminar

South East Asia Graduate School of Theology (SEAGST)

This Methodology seminar of SEAGST, offered to newly admitted Doctoral candidates (The D. theol. Students beyond second year may apply if the capacity available), has six primary objectives:

 

  1. To create a theological community of SEAGST, strengthen a sense of belonging of the students to this theological institute.
  2. To introduce the “Guidelines for Doing Theology in Asia” approved by SEAGST and help doctoral candidates to develop methodological tools for their respective research based on these guidelines.
  3. To guide/enhance the critical ability of the candidates to engage in contextual approaches to doing theology, biblical studies and other respective field of research.
  4. To provide orientation to research methodologies and writing skills. Seminar will organize several workshops to address the individual needs of each candidate in strengthening their research/writing skills.
  5. To help candidates to develop an interdisciplinary approach in their research and academic pursuit.
  6. To create a critical sensitivity to Asian issues/context and to help research candidates to integrate the specific Asian concerns in doing theology/Biblical studies or any other genres.

 

The Seminar will be organized with a combination of integrated seminars, lectures, group work, library research and individual presentations.  Last week of the seminar will be conducted along with the regional faculty meeting of SEAGST.
